How many steps should I take per day?

Researchers have recommended 10,000 steps (or approximately 5 miles or 8km) per day for overall good health and well-being. Remember to start small and aim to build up to 10,000 steps bit by bit.

If you are very inactive, have a health problem, or are worried about any aspect of your health, you should consult your doctor before undertaking this challenge. When it comes to clocking up steps as part of the Step Challenge, every participant is responsible for their own personal safety and wellbeing.
