MARCHATHON 2015

Dear Marcher,
We hope that you had fun during Marchathon 2015 and you're enjoying getting out walking in the lovely sunshine, long may it continue!! This year over 130 teams from 16 campuses all around the country got out walking during the 10 days of Marchathon. Together we walked for just under 350,000 minutes which is the equivalent of walking almost 30,000 km!!

We're signing off for Marchathon 2015 now but before we do we would like to say a final THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to you and your team for taking part. If you'd like to stay in touch we will continue to update the Marchathon Facebook page so feel free to continue posting your comments and photos!

Ziyanda tells her Marchathon Story...

I participated in Marchathon and the Cycle Challenge last year but Marchathon 2015 was different. I felt more involved!! Being the team captain of uptown funk group, I made daily plans of where we would walk. This year we incorporated fitness (by walking) and site seeing in moderate paces. We went walking to places that we’ve never been to in Sligo and also outside of Sligo. In a way Marchathon also made us adventurous!!

I also noticed that I lost weight, which was a hard thing to do, but it happened in a way that a never thought it would. It happened without me over thinking or making a huge amount of effort. It was really fun incorporating fitness while walking with friends!! I wish we were able to document it better with photos but when you get into it ( the walking) you forget about the challenge!!!  I’m sad that this is my last year of college and may not be able to participate in Marchathon but I know no matter how cheesy this may sound but Marchathon is part of my daily living now. So thanks to you guys I’m fit as a fiddle now!!!!!!! Bring on the summer lol
