Bike Week run by students in Athlone IT

In September students from Athlone IT's Business Studies (Sport & Recreation) and Spa & Wellness Management programmes were assigned graded projects to promote cycling on campus.  To kick start the project students were brought on a guided cycle of the local greenway.

Students delivered their group projects between the 10th and 14th of October, resulting in AIT's first student led bike week. The projects organised by the student groups included; trips on the greenway, promotional posters, bike maintenance and safety events, a cycle challenge, a selfie competition and my first bike ride memory board. Students also raised money for a local charity.

On the 10th of November student projects were presented in poster and presentation format to lecturers and to Sharon Daly, Smarter Travel Campus. Students were then awarded certificates to acknowledge their completion of an active travel project. Students are now invited to enter their project in the Student Project of the year category of the Smarter Travel Awards 2017.
