Smarter Travel Campus Awards – Update for participants

Due to the government restrictions as a result of Covid-19 the 2020 Smarter Travel Campus Awards ceremony scheduled for April was postponed. The judges have reviewed, marked and shortlisted the entries. Unfortunately a physical event is not possible presently; however we are working on a virtual event for September when the colleges return. Further details will be provided to entrants and lecturers as it is available. If you have any queries please contact Sharon.daly@nationaltransport.ie

What are the Smarter Travel Campus Awards?

The Smarter Travel Campus Awards invite students to create entries relevant to their course discipline to encourage and enable walking, cycling, public transport and carpooling. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a real-life project that they can add to their graduate portfolio or CV, win an award, and have their work showcased at the Smarter Travel Campus Award Ceremony. Lecturers who assign students projects to promote smarter travel are also invited to put themselves forward for an award to acknowledge their effort to bring smarter travel into the curriculum.

Prizes are awarded to the overall winners. Student shortlisted as finalists will be invited to the awards ceremony where their entry will be showcased. The awards are open to individual and group entries (up to 4 students) from a variety of disciplines, including; engineering, innovation, health, sport, events, marketing, digital marketing and multimedia (animation, audio, video, graphic design and illustration). Projects undertaken during semester 2 in 2020 that were not entered into the 2020 awards are eligible for entry in the 2021 competition. If you are interested in taking part in the 2021 awards please email Sharon.daly@nationaltransport.ie

The guidelines for the 2021 are currently being developed. However, you may find the 2020 Awards Booklet useful for reference. The 2020 judges’ biographies may also be of interest.
