Team captain: Graece Shiau Pin Tan. Reason they have been nominated: Great captain! She is giving us strength.
Team member: Isobel Gregg. Reason they have been nominated: She tried her best everyday to get more steps in, she started walk to and from college when she could, she was always up for a hike on the weekends, I had a lot of fun this month because of her.
Team member: Ciara Boyle. Reason they have been nominated: She put a lot of effort into increasing her steps, even while watching TV she was walking around. She was really enthusiastic and made the month more enjoyable.
Team member: Sarah Johnson. Reason they have been nominated: Sarah put in an outstanding effort for our team during marchathon. She had a perfect record of surpassing 10000 steps for every day of the competition, despite having no choice but to commute to the campus by car and pesky computer simulations forcing her to stay at her desk most of the day. She always put in some added effort after work and at the weekends which included a surprise 10k run at times. She set a great example for the team and her effort was appreciated.
Team member: Hollie Allison. Reason they have been nominated: Reason they have been nominated: Hollie was very consistent in achieving 10000 steps a day throughout marchathon. She was a great teammate and was great for motivating the rest of
the team to do their best also. It was impressive for her to get 10000 steps each day, what with having a short distance to walk between work and home each day and having a largely desk based job.
Team member: Louise Kavanagh. Reason they have been nominated: As she is inspirational and motivational on all the challenges so far well done Louise.
Team member: Eilis Ni Ghallachoir. Reason they have been nominated: Eilis inspires me daily to keep stepping! She frequently hits 20,000 steps a day and I just think it’s inspiring that she continues to do so even with a foot injury. A great team player and really encourages the rest of the team to keep going! We’d all be stuck inside being couch potatoes without Eilis!!
Team member: Saintuya Dashdondog. Reason they have been nominated: She is a single mother from Mongolia. daily she has to send and pick up her children at school and go to the campus for her PhD study also do grocery. Amazingly she does those activities by walking. That is why in average she can make 18.000 steps daily.
Team member: Lorraine Sammon. Reason they have been nominated: Lorraine went from not doing any exercise at all to exceeding her 10,000 steps a day.
Team member: Claire Albrecht. Reason they have been nominated: Claire has been training very hard for the Galway Cycle (http://www2.galwaycycle.ie/) so, not only is she keeping fit and smashing her own record each week but she is also raising money for charity (The National Rehabilitation Hospitals Paediatric Unit). Claire is a great inspiration and encouragement to her teammates.

Team captain: Jan Knappe. Reason they have been nominated: Jan was the one who had us enter the challenge. He was super motivated and he was a great coach. Thanks to him we went to a great hike in the Wicklows! And he was so committed, getting up earlier to walk through the city before coming to work. He also signed for the 5km run in TCD with other members of the team. His greatest achievement during the challenge was a hike he did in Scotland on the Ben Nevis (still covered in snow right now). Definitely, he was an awesome team captain! Nominated by: Lea.

Team captain: Pat Moffatt. Reason they have been nominated: Pat has been inspiring to all team members in his group. He leads by example and continues to encourage in a very positive way. He gives us gentle reminders and has also opened up new exercise routes e.g. Park Runs to his members. Not only has been tremendous in terms of motivating other team members and achieving outstanding results – he has created an open communication grouping and supportive team to keep us cognisant of the importance of exercise and walking going forward. He is a true leader and always so pleasant. Nominated by: Denise
Team captain: Catherine Terrett of Care Bears. Reason they have been nominated: I’m nominating myself as I’m proud that I stayed commited to the task for the months while trying my best to keep up healthy habits and leading the team in doing so
too. My personality provided entertainment throughout the month to keep both the team entertained with songs on walks or stepping around the college with glee and enthusiasm. Nominated by: Catherine Terrett.
Team captain: Julie Egan. Reason they have been nominated: Because she a good motivator and team leader. Nominated by: Tina Cashin.

These 5 people did little to no walking but have challenged themselves and each other to continue to up their steps each and every day. Encouraged all to walk to work and leave the car at home. Extra car spaces available to people who live further away. She also brings us walking at lunchtime (we usually sit in the office!) By her leading the field by walking up to 20,000+ per day she has us competing to try and match her – a brilliant leader – lead by example. Nominated by: Una and Angela.
Team captain: Fiona Doughan. Reason they have been nominated: Fiona has given us great direction, and motivation, and is a very high achiever herself. Nominated by: Fiona O’Donnell.
Team captain: Agata Rzeznik. Reason they have been nominated: They have really pushed our team to the limits and we can all feel our fitness improving because of it! Nominated by: Aaron Croke.
Team captain: John ONeill. Reason they have been nominated: Always encouraging and motivating our team, he is an inspiration. Nominated by: Majella O Halloran.
Team captain: Noreen Vaughan. Reason they have been nominated: This Marchathon brought out a hitherto unseen yet truly terrifying competitive streak in Noreen. I suspect “accidents” which befell other teams in our organisation were actually Noreen taking out the competition. I’m hoping if she wins this prize, she’ll…….oh no….she’s coming back……tell my wife and kids I love them!!! Nominated by: Mick Tuohy.
Team member: Leonie Gately UCD. Reason they have been nominated: Leonie is the one who got us started to do the Marchathon. She was very encouraging and motivated us to keep walking. Nominated by: Terry Barrett.
Team member: Lorraine Sammon. Reason they have been nominated: Lorraine was slightly apprehensive about taking on this challenge as she though that she had a low daily step count. She really put everything into this challenge and pushed herself. She and the team are so very proud of the progress she has made. Lorraine is keen to keep her steps up going forward!!!! Nominated by: Róisin Kelly.
Team member: Jennifer Wall. Reason they have been nominated: Pester power is a strong characteristic of this team member, but her motivation to succeed drove us all (or made us feel very lazy!) Jennifer wasn’t the captain, but by God, she should have been. She led by example, logged huge numbers and pushed us all more than she needed to. A real competitor and we love her for it! Nominated by: Claire Hassett.
Team member: Patrick Boylan. Reason they have been nominated: Patrick Boylan has been an inspirational team member- his steps far exceeded those of the rest of our team – over 10,000 daily and up to 30,000 some days. However he took all available opportunities to support and encourage us all, regardless of our fewer steps! It has been a pleasure and delight being on Pat’s team. Nominated by: Anne Matthews.
Team member: Josephine McLoughlin. Reason they have been nominated: I am nominating Josephine as initially she was not to keen on taking part as walking was not her thing, but from encouragement from the group she did and not only that, she gave it 110%. Going above and beyond to hit her target and going out of her way to make an extra effort to get those steps in. One day she even went on a long walk, forgot her fitbit and redid the whole walk so that she would not let the team down. She has been a joy to step with and her determination really encouraged me not to give up throughout the way but to keep on going, giving it my all!! Nominated by: Trina Dzidonu.
Team member: Louise Kavanagh. Reason they have been nominated: For her brilliant video and wonderful poem and her dedication and being a team player. Nominated by: Julie Egan.
Team member: Garron Clarke. Reason they have been nominated: Garron inspired our team and was extremely dedicated to the Marchaton – a great team member. Nominated by: Katie Clarke.
Team member: Ciara Quinn and Ellen Walsh. Reason they have been nominated: Amazing women, up for the challenge even after completing Operation Transformation, they made it a laugh and fun, we did extra walking around our college track at lunchtimes we were all free. After each class, they always checked that we had our steps back on and synced our steps before 2pm on Mondays. Nominated by: Michelle Ryan.
Team member: Darren Greene. Reason they have been nominated: This person was always inspiring the team and put in a lot of effort throughout the entire Marchathon. Nominated by: Katie Clarke.
Team member: Lorraine Sammon. Reason they have been nominated: Lorraine has really taken on 10,000 steps a day, she will not go to bed at night without getting the 10,000 steps done. If she knows she is spending a day doing activities that will not get her steps up she will walk around and get approx 6,000 steps in before heading out. Lorraine does not normally do regular exercise or go for walks so this is a fantastic achievement for her. Nominated by: Lisa Hanlon.
Team member: John O’Neill. Reason they have been nominated: John motivated us to get involved with the challenge and sets a great example to the team. Nominated by: Jean Chaplin.
Team member: Anita Scullion. Reason they have been nominated: She is making a huge effort. She has set herself a daily target of 10,000, and is trying for 15,000 once a week. This is a big change in her normal routine. Nominated by: Tracey Roche.
Team member: John O’Neill. Reason they have been nominated: He is a great motivator. Keeping tabs on all team members and their steps! Nominated by: Niamh O’Hanlon.
Team member: Mikayla Turkewitz. Reason they have been nominated: She gets up at 6am everyday to go for walks before work. Her huge step numbers gave us all goals to aspire to. Nominated by: Rose.
Team member: Aine Flynn. Reason they have been nominated: Aine has brought an energy and real sense of creativity and fun to the Marchathon event. She’s been the driving force behind our competition entries and has made a real effort to get our college, staff and learners, involved in Marchathon. Nominated by: Declan Doody.
