The extension of the Luas Green Line through the city centre to Broombridge opens at 2pm this Saturday 9th December.
The extension of the Green Line means that you can change between the Red and Green line at the O’Connell – GPO / Abbey Street / Marlborough stop.
Construction started in June 2013 and has delivered 5.9km of track with 13 new Luas stops taking Luas through the city centre and north to Broombridge.
The Luas Green Line now operates from Brides Glen or Sandyford to Parnell or Broombridge.
Operating times for Luas vary by stop but are approximately Monday to Friday 05:30 – 00:30, Saturday 06:30 – 00:30 and Sunday & Bank Holiday 07:00 – 23:30.
Luas trams run every 3-5 minutes at peak time and every 10-20 minutes at off-peak times. Real Time Passenger Information is available online, at the stops or download a free Luas App.
Luas fares are zonal; you pay for the number of zones you travel through.
If you are using Leap Card there is no change to the way you Touch On / Off your Leap Card on Luas. You will continue to Touch On before you get on the tram and Touch Off after you get off the tram.
If you are using both lines you should Touch On and Off for the 1st tram trip and then after you change lines Touch On and Off for the 2nd tram trip. By Touching On/Off for each tram trip you will get the best value fare for your overall journey, you will have a valid ticket and you will have the flexibility to change your mind about the 2nd part of your journey.
