Congratulations to all individuals and workplaces that took part!
Dublin and Limerick were two of the 52 European Cities that took part in European Cycle Challenge that ran during May. And it was sunshine all the way, with extra heat generated by the amazing 108,000 cycle kms peddled by over 1,000 Dubliners, to achieve a very respectable 13th place on the City leaderboard
There was some serious competition witnessed on the Workplace Leaderboard, and congratulations to St Vincent’s University Hospital and Roughan & O’Donovan were victorious in the end. There were also winning cyclists were from a wide range of the other participating workplaces that included SSE Airtricity, Oracle, Clifton Scannell Emerson Associates, Beaumont Hospital, Royal College of Surgeons, Deloitte, Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Aecom, South Dublin County Council, Allianz Worldwide Care. The prize giving ceremony was held in the NTA during bike week,16th June 2016 (click here to read more)
This Challenge was a little different from our usual cycle challenge, but nevertheless it was very much in keeping with our cycle challenge objective of promoting cycling as a sustainable transport choice, and it gave us a chance to try something new whilst our usual backend system was being updated. And a big thank you to everyone who took part and responded to the survey. The feedback was really positive with most of you saying you would take part again (92%), and we also got some useful feedback about the pros and cons of the two different challenges. Well done to Anthony Dale of Aecom who won the random draw for filling out the survey. A voucher will be on its way to you.
