Prize Winners


In partnership with the Irish Heart Foundation, this year’s Pedometer Challenge offered one lucky participant a fantastic prize worth €2,500; a place on the Irish Heart Foundation European walk in 2012. A draw was conducted from among the top 10 teams to find a winner for a place on the Irish Heart Foundation’s European Walk in 2012. Julia O’Halloran from ESB won this prize and courtesy of the Irish Heart Foundation she will be taking part in their walk on Italy’s second largest island, Sardinia, next year.


Prizes were also awarded to the top three teams overall, as follows:


1st prize
Innostep, from Leo Pharma
€150 in vouchers for each team member
2nd prize
The Hot Steppers, from the Mater Hospital
€100 in vouchers for each team member
3rd prize
The Jolly Walkers, from the National Rehabilitation Hospital
€50 in vouchers for each team member


The winners of the pedometer challenge who took the most steps during the challenge were Innostep from Leo Pharma with 720,490 steps, Hot Steppers from the Mater Hospital clocked up 702,860 steps and The Jolly Walkers from the National Rehabilitation Hospital who stepped their way to third place with 673,427 steps.



Spot Prizes

There were also a number spot prizes on offer including one for all gift vouchers, iPod shuffles and shopping bags. In weeks 2 & 4 winning a spot prize for being in 15th and 30th position respectively were the Wilton Rebels of ESB, 3C’s Girlies of EMC, Leo Pharma’s The Misfits and The Cytology Team from Cork University Hospital. A number of smaller spot prizes were also awarded throughout the challenge.


Niamh O’Connor from Citi Bank was the lucky winner of a €100 gift voucher. Niamh completed the evaluation and was chosen at random as the winner of this great prize. The company coordinator who was also chosen at random from those who completed the evaluation was Kathleen Nolan from Pfizer. Kathleen also won a €100 gift voucher.
