What trips do I log?
Quite simply, 1 trip = 1 point!
What is a trip?
A trip is a journey on a bicycle that is at least 10 minutes long. Trips must be 10 or more minutes to qualify. Longer trips still qualify for 1 point.
Note that
- Cycling on an exercise bike is not included
- Trips cycled on a fleet bike or an electric bike are included
- Every time you log a trip to or from work, we’ll give you an extra point!
Why Don’t I Log Distance Travelled?
Distances aren’t logged as we want to make the competition open to as many new and occasional cyclists as possible. If the competition was based solely on distance, club cyclists doing one long cycle at the weekend would leave everyone else in the dust!
By making 1 trip = 1 point, the efforts of someone who hasn’t cycled for years are appreciated as much as someone who cycles the Wicklow mountains every weekend.
If you’d like to keep a note of KMs cycled, you can download this Excel spreadsheet to keep a record.
Can We Earn Bonus Points?
Every time you log a trip to or from work, the Journey Logger will give you a bonus point for your efforts.
Also this year, all ‘new cyclists’ logging more than 30 trips will get a bonus 10 points for their team (awarded at the end of the challenge).
What dates do I log trips for?
You can log trips for Wednesday 6th of June until Wednesday 26th of June inclusive.
You can enter your details every day (which will keep the Leader Board up to date) or you can ‘back log’ trips for up to 10 days.
